Supplies:

• Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye
• Light Color Baseball Glove
• Baseball
• Stainless. Steel Pot for Dyeing
• Thread and needle
• Leather conditioner
• Salt
• Dish soap
• Paint Brush
• Gloves
• Heat Gun or Blow Dryer
• Paper Towels

Time: 1-2 Hours

1. Cover work area and gather supplies.
2. Submerge baseball and glove in warm water. This helps the glove and ball to absorb the dye evenly.
3. To suspend the baseball in the dyebath, thread string through the baseball stitches using a sewing needle.
4. For the dyebath, heat up roughly 2-3 gallons of hot water. For best results, dyebath temperature should be at a consistent 140F.
5. Add All-Purpose Liquid Dye and stir well.
6. Add 1 tsp of Dish Detergent to promote level dyeing and 1/4 cup of salt to help bind the color.
7. Make sure to test the dyebath color with test strips of leather and paper prior to dyeing. Add more dye to the water if the color is too light. If the color is too dark, just add more water. 
8. To create an ombre, submerge a portion of the glove into the dyebath  for 5-10 minutes or until desired color is achieved, continuously moving the glove to create a soft gradient. Keep in mind that the color will look lighter when dry. 
9. For the baseball, suspend it above the dyebath so that only the bottom third is submerged in the dyebath. Swirl it around for 5-10 minutes or until desired color is achieved.
10. Repeat Steps 4-5 with desired colors and continue to dip to create desired gradient.
11. Spray ColorStay Dye Fixative all over the glove.
12. Heat set Fixative with a heat gun or blow dryer and allow it to air dry completely.
13. Rinse in warm water, then gradually cool and allow it to dry completely.
14. Once dry, apply leather conditioners or balms to leather and buff with a soft brush.
