- Plastic skeletons
- Tongs
- Rubber Gloves
- Acetone
- Measuring Cup and Spoon
- Plastic Table Cover
- Paper Towels
Time: 30 Minutes
Difficulty: Beginner
Instructions:
- Prewash plushies in water and mild detergent to remove any manufacturer’s finishes that may interfere with dye absorption. Leave damp.
- Heat 1-2 gallon of water on the stovetop to roughly 200ºF / 93ºC or greater.
- When water begins to simmer, add ¼ cup of well-shaken DyeMore for Synthetics and stir well. We used DyeMore for Synthetics in Plum Berry, Super Pink and Sand Stone.
- Wearing rubber gloves, carefully dip 1/3 of the damp plushie into the dyebath. Keep the plushie dipped for 5-10 minutes, moving it around the dyebath to avoid harsh dyelines from forming and achieve a smooth gradient.
- Once desired color is achieved, remove from dyebath and rinse in cold water
- Repeat steps 2-5 with additional DyeMore for Synthetics c0lors to create a two-tone ombre or dip-dyed effect.
- Rinse in cold water and hang to air dry or tumble dry on low with an old towel.
