Has your black hat faded and started looking a little worn?  Don't worry, Rit dye is here to save the day! Your hat will be looking brand new in less than 15 minutes.

 What you’ll need:

• A hat
• Rit All-purpose liquid in black
• Rit DyeMore liquid in graphite 
• Stainless steel tongs
• Paper towels
• Rubber gloves
• A pot or saucepan

How to do it:

1. To prevent any potential spills, cover the area around the stove with a plastic tablecloth and keep paper towels nearby.
2. When working with hot water, put on rubber gloves to prevent stains and to insulate your hands.
3. Put enough water in a stainless steel kettle so that the hat may move freely. Water should be heated to 80 degrees Celsius (under cover) before boiling.
4. Add 1 bottle of Graphite and 1 bottle of Black dye to the simmering water and stir thoroughly. Noting that the hat's material was unknown, a dyebath made of Rit All-Purpose Black and Rit DyeMore Graphite was utilised. Natural textiles respond nicely to the All-Purpose dye, whereas synthetic materials respond well to the DyeMore. There was a lot of dye poured to the hot water since dark colours demand a lot of dye in the dyebath.
5. Directly add the hat to the dye bath, stirring to completely cover it. To get complete coverage, move the dye all over the hat.
6. Leave for ten minutes in the dyebath with occasional stirring.
7. Remove the hat with care from the dye bath. Put the hat in a plastic bag and take it outdoors to be hosed off. The kitchen sink is another option for rinsing.
8. Till the rinse water is clear, rinse with a hose. Hang outside to dry.
9. Once dry, spray with a guard and let it dry completely.
