Who does not want to look like a bat for their next costume party? We definitely do! We have found the perfect way to do so with an incredible DIY costume. We can't get enough of everything, from the black attire to the moon that has been stained. It's fun, dark and fun, making it the ideal costume for your next spooky Halloween party.

• All-Purpose Liquid Dye: Golden Yellow
• Plastic Table Cover
• Stainless Steel Pot + Hob
• Foam Brush
• Large Glass Bowl
• White Bodysuit
• Measuring Cup
• Metal Tongs
• Rubber Gloves
• Kitchen Towels
• Black Pipe Cleaner
• Yellow Felt
• Black Felt
• Plastic Headband
• Non-varnished Wooden Moon
• Black Construction Paper
• Glue Gun

Directions

1. First, place your plastic table cover over your working table, and then gather your goods.
2. It is important to prewash the bodysuit in order to remove any finishes that could prevent the dye from taking.
3. Put 4.5 litres of water in the stainless steel pot and set it aside.
4. Cover the saucepan and heat it over high heat until it is almost boiling.
5. When the water reaches a simmer, pour in a half cup of Rit DyeMore in. Before using, make sure to give the bottle a good shake. Once you have added the dye to the pot, stir well.
6. In order to achieve a more intense and even colouring job, add one teaspoon of dish detergent to your water/dye mix.
7. Test the dye colour by dipping a paper towel in the dye bath. If the colour is too light, add more dye; if the colour is too dark, add more water. If the colour is just right, leave it as it is!
8. Put your gloves on and use the metal tongs to submerge the bodysuit into the dye bath. The most crucial period is the first ten minutes, so make sure you stir the bodysuit to achieve a uniform dying job.
9. Remove the bodysuit from the dye bath once you have reached the desired colour. Keep in mind that when wet, fabric seems darker and when dried, it appears lighter. So decide when to stop accordingly. Lastly, squeeze all extra dye out.
10. In order to improve colour and boost colour retention, use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative right away after dying and before washing. Simply follow the directions written on the packaging.
11. Rinse well under cold water until the water runs clear.
12. Wash with gentle detergent in warm water, rinse and air dry.
13. Cut out stars from the yellow felt and stick them to the bodysuit using the glue gun.
14. To create the bat ears, cut out two black triangles. For stability, fasten black pipe cleaners to the backs of the triangles. Then glue the triangles of black felt on the headband using the glue gun. Hold them in place with clamps until the glue completely dries down.
15. To make the moon, put on gloves and combine 1/2 cup of Golden Yellow All-Purpose Liquid dye with 2 cups of extremely hot water. Spread mix evenly over the surface after dipping a foam brush in the colour solution. Allow the dye to completely dry. 
16. Cut bat shapes out of black construction paper.
17. Using a hot glue gun, attach black construction paper bats to the moon.
18. Assemble everything and add black trousers, a skirt or legging and your choice of shoe.
19. All done!
