Spell Book Decor

Give your spellbooks a creepy-crawly upgrade. Colour plastic bugs with FreeFlow Monochrome Markers for metallic details that look straight out of the potions cabinet.

Supplies:

  • Rit FreeFlow Markers Monochrome
  • Black Canvas Book
  • Air Dry Clay and Gothic Alphabet Mold
  • Plastic Bugs
  • Hot Glue Gun and Sticks
  • Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye in Neon Green, Scarlet and Purple
  • Clear Apothecary Bottles
  • Rubber bands, beads, sticks to fill bottles.

Time: 1 Hour

Difficulty: Beginner

Instructions:

FOR SPELL BOOK

  1. Create gothic letters using air dry clay and mold. Once dry remove from mold.
  2. Use brush side of FreeFlow Markers in Gold to paint letters and plastic bugs and allow it to fully dry. Then paint over top areas with Silver FreeFlow Marker to create highlights for a gilded look.
  3. Glue letters and bugs onto book cover using hot glue gun and sticks.

FOR POTION BOTTLES

  1. Place small found items like beads, yarn, buttons, or beads into clear apothecary bottles.
  2. Fill bottles half way with warm water and fill remainder with desired Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye colors. We used Neon Green, Scarlet and Purple.
  3. Secure tops onto bottles and gentle shake to mix colors.
  4. Display with spell book and enjoy!
